We arrived in Haiti yesterday. The Flight time from Fort Lauderdale was only 90 minutes. Getting through customs was relatively smooth. After leaving the airport, we met with Haitian officials at the University Hospital to arrange our schedules for the week. Our team will be covering the ICU and pediatric units during the day and in part the ER. One of our objectives, in collaboration with Haitian staff, is to establish a permanent NICU/PICU. Planning meeting tomorrow morning…

Some people see things that are and ask, Why? Some people dream of things that never were and ask, Why not? Some people have to go to work and don’t have time for all that..

We’re back from our trip this weekend and it was amazing. We cared for approximately 700 patients at the Haitian Christian Mission’s hospital and the mobile clinics in rural areas such as Thoman, Lizon, Drouillard and Fond Cheval. We managed many interesting cases and hats off to everyone who donated their time, energy and money to make this trip a success. The construction crew built a four-sitter public latrine in just a little over 4 days. It’s amazing how people can accomplish so much when working together. We shared many stories and will probably tell them in different ways but the purpose that drove us will remain the same. The purpose of bringing hope to the less fortunate, to heal their wounds and souls will be the same. Thank you all for helping Haiti recover and thank you so much for being a great “family” to me. I love you all and hope to see you again in Haiti or anywhere else our path may cross to share ourselves and our talents.
    Martine
